is a paper-focused sculptor in New York City. She explores the intangible through the tangible in the existence of the spirit and soul with physicality, honoring all life forms. Her work is inspired by the unique sense of emptiness that is natural to Japanese aesthetics, ma. It is the empty space revealed in paintings, space between sounds, movement, or words - the use of poetic space.

Furutate's recent work includes a large-scale set design for Obremski/Works at Culture Lab LIC and a two-person exhibition “Alchemy /Paper and Sticks” at BAU Gallery, Beacon, NY. Her work has participated in selected group exhibitions at Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition, Williamsburg Art & Historical Center, and BAU Gallery in addition to being their 2023 honorable mention recipient in their show “Respire”. Her drawings are also seen in a monthly column about plant scents presented by an aromatherapist in a Japanese local newspaper.

She grew up in Tokyo, Japan with a background of music. She is a certified intuitive interspecies communicator and reiki for animals.
